While visiting her best friend from college in Los Angeles, Brooke Christy was introduced to her future bridesmaid's friend from high school, David Corcos. On a group trip to Las Vegas, the pair became more than just friends of friends. “That trip will always be unforgettable for both of us because something happened that we couldn’t describe and suddenly all we wanted to do was talk to and be near each other,” describes Brooke. Little did David know, she lived in Arizona and not California; however, she already had plans to move there after graduation. The rest is history! 

While David originally planned to propose in May 2020 on their first European vacation together, Covid had other plans. When the future of travel continued to remain unclear, he didn’t want to wait any longer and planned a romantic picnic proposal a few months later, complete with a heart-shaped cacio e pepe pizza sprinkled with gold flakes from their favorite pizzeria and sparkling prosecco on the beach, just steps from their home in Playa Del Rey, California. “We stayed on the beach for hours drinking wine and looked at the stars together as fiancés! It was perfect!” shares Brooke. 

When planning their nuptials, the pair searched for wedding venues along the coast of California; however, they ultimately decided to say “I do” in Los Cabos, Mexico. “We love Cabo and had such an amazing time there together before we were engaged,” explains Brooke who, with David, was excited to invite an intimate group of friends and family members to experience one of their favorite destinations only a quick flight from LA. 

To ease the wedding-planning process, they hired local planners to organize the celebration. “Cabo is a popular wedding destination, so a lot of the vendors book up quickly, but we were so lucky to get our first-pick wedding planner who matched us with amazing vendors. We love the way everything turned out!” confirms the bride. When the big day finally arrived, Brooke and David cherished the entire weekend – starting with cocktails on Thursday night as guests arrived, a sunset catamaran tour featuring an open bar and light bites on Friday before dinner with the wedding party, and of course, the ocean-view nuptials on Saturday. 

Loved ones found their seats for the ceremony facing the ocean. The bride walked down the aisle to an acoustic guitarist’s rendition of “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith to meet her groom in front of a modern, triangle-shaped wooden arch decorated with asymmetrical florals and greenery. The heartfelt service was kept short and sweet, as Brooke and David were excited to spend the rest of the evening celebrating with their friends and family. 

“We really wanted our wedding to be simple but beautiful, and we wanted everyone to come away remembering having the best time!”

Only steps away, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour complete with the couple’s signature cocktails – a skinny spicy margarita for her, an Old Fashioned with a twist for him, and an espresso martini for their shared selection. “It was a hit! It seems like espresso martinis are everywhere now, but at the time, it felt very up and coming… We even had to ask the hotel for special permission to be able to accommodate it as an option,” notes the groom. 

Attendees snapped Polaroid photos for the guest book and savored passed hors d’oeuvres including potato croquettes, an assortment of taquitos, mini empanadas, and more. “The cocktail hour passed hors d’oeuvres were honestly what we were most excited about,” affirms Brooke. “We both love a good cocktail hour!” 

Once the sun started to set, guests found their table assignments atop flutes of Champagne and took their seats at rectangular wooden tables surrounded by neutral-toned wishbone chairs. Centerpieces showcased gorgeous low floral arrangements in warm sunset tones illuminated by candlelight emitted from wooden and amber-hued votives. 

The pair’s sweetheart table featured similar florals in an asymmetrical design with an offset arrangement on one side of the table and ground florals on the other. “We really wanted our wedding to be simple but beautiful, and we wanted everyone to come away remembering having the best time!” adds the bride. 

All of the couple’s wedding wishes came true, as friends and family enjoyed the entire celebration – which included a special surprise for both the bride and wedding guests. Following the first dance to a cover of The Beach Boys’ “Don’t Worry Baby” by The Brook & The Bluff, David surprised Brooke by singing her favorite song, “I Guess I’m in Love” by Clinton Kane. “He didn’t even know it, but it came on while I was getting my makeup done for one of my bridesmaids' wedding and the makeup artist said, ‘Can you imagine if someone sang this to you?’ and I said, ‘Oh my gosh, it’d be so special,’ not even knowing what was to come,” Brooke remembers. 

After the speeches, which the couple absolutely loved, everyone hit the circular wooden dance floor for the rest of the reception. Slices of the pair’s chocolate wedding cake and tasty churros were enjoyed by all, a photo booth provided a take-home keepsake for loved ones – in addition to wedding welcome bags complete with painted ceramic shot glasses, pashminas, hand sanitizer, and hot sauce – and tequila shots and espresso martinis encouraged plenty of dancing into the night. With their hearts full, the newlyweds said adios to their loved ones as they headed to their honeymoon in Tulum, Playa Del Carmen, and Isla Holbox!
