Michele (née Munoz) and Colin Zarnegar had recently moved from a small apartment in New York City to the home of the bride’s parents in Los Angeles while they searched for their own abode to purchase nearby. Needless to say, the registry process was a bit challenging due to the circumstances, particularly in the midst of a pandemic.
It was especially important to the couple that they hone in on versatile pieces and appliances because it was difficult to determine exactly what they would need and what would work in the layout of their future home. “In general for décor, we love clean lines and wood mixed in with earthy tones and textures,” Michele illustrates. “For most of our appliances, we decided to stick with a cohesive white and rose gold or copper palette.”

After researching retailers, Zola seemed to be the easiest choice for the couple with its online platform that carries over 1,000 brands, and described by Michele and Colin as a one-stop-shop with great policies. They even added a home and puppy fund to their Zola registry allowing family and friends to generously gift towards their upcoming big purchases. “Zola also linked our other registries to our Zola page, which made it just that much more seamless,” Michele notes.
The betrothed completed the majority of their selections online; however, for their daily dinnerware, they knew it was best to see the pieces in person. “We had to be absolutely sure before adding the large sets of eight that we wanted,” she explains, expressing their love of hosting events. After some debate, they opted for sturdy ebony-hued dinner plates and gorgeous salad plates with gilded brushstrokes.

Crate and Barrel offered some of the clean, beautiful metallic kitchen items that Michele felt would work well with their style. The couple decided on a cool copper food processor, a marble-and-copper trivet, as well as a matching marble rolling pin with a wooden stand. While at Williams Sonoma, the bride encouraged Colin to add all of the gadgets he desired to their wish list. “They definitely had all the fun kitchen toys Colin wanted,” Michele smiles, admitting he is the cook of the family.
The newlyweds are extremely satisfied with their choices. “We have seriously used every single item, and have even used them more than I had anticipated,” shares the bride. For Colin, he particularly loves their Vitamix blender. “I have never seen my husband so happy in the kitchen, and he takes care of it so lovingly. This is something we will definitely be keeping for a lifetime, amongst others!”

“If you and your spouse just aren’t agreeing on an item, move on and determine if you really need it down the line.”

“Don’t make impulse decisions! Do your research and make sure you have a cohesive aesthetic, so you don’t have to worry about returns later.”
Start Early
“Try to get your registry started as soon as possible, so you don’t feel the pressure. We ended up finding great ideas to add a little too late.”
